The most impressive features within the cave is the two beautiful crystal clear lakes that are hiding inside. As of yet, divers have been unable to reach the lakes bottom. Because of this, the lakes are considered bottomless! The two lakes are named North and South Lake.
The North Lake was discovered in 1993, and made national news! The South Lake has been around for years, and was stocked with trout nearly 50 years ago.
Several things set Cosmic Cavern apart from other caves in the area. Cosmic Cavern is known for being the warmest cave in the Ozark region. The cave is also home to the longest soda straw cave formation in the Ozarks.
This must see destination was discovered in 1845, and was developed into a show cave in 1927. Cave tours last about an hour and 15 minutes and lead you past breathtaking formations, that are a million years in the making.
The newly discovered area, “Silent Splendor” is hailed as a must see attraction in Arkansas. It is so pristine and untouched that many of the beautiful formations are transparent.
The cave is a warm 64 degrees in the winter and a cool 64 degrees in the summer. It is the perfect temperature no matter what season of the year you choose to visit!
