This Epic Hike Takes You To The Grand Canyon Of Yellowstone’s South Rim

The South Rim of the Grand Canyon trail is one of Yellowstone’s most spectacular shorter hikes. The trail is about 1.7 miles (2.8 kilometers) long, and makes its way in and out of a forest, as it follows the Yellowstone River through the majestic Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. For more information or to book this trip, click here.

Pick-ups take place at all hotels and Airbnb’s in West Yellowstone itself. Please wait outside for a vehicle with USA Park Tours on the sides. If it is too cold to be outside, please wait somewhere inside, where you can see our vehicle pull up. Guests can also meet us at our offices in West Yellowstone. 530 Targhee Pass Hwy, West Yellowstone, Montana.

We’ll take in two spectacular waterfalls along the way, Yellowstone’s Upper Falls and Yellowstone’s Lower Falls. The hike ends at the aptly named Artist Point, which provides the best views of the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. Note that there are some small inclines and descents on this trail, which is at elevation. This trip takes about 5 hours and costs $315.00.

There are two major waterfalls on this hike, and Yellowstone’s Upper Falls is the first one we see. Yellowstone’s Lower Falls are the second of two major waterfalls we will see on this hike.

Artist Point provides the most stunning vistas of the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone South Rim Trail is one of Yellowstone’s more stunning front country hikes. The trail follows the Yellowstone River as it flows through the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, and plunges down over two large waterfalls. You will meander in and out of a forest before ending the hike at the majestic Artist Point. For more information or to book this trip, click here.
